Govt cooperates with private sector: Minister Bhandari

Kathmandu, November 28 — Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari has said the government was for cooperating with private sector to forward economic activities.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the three-day exhibition of Plast Nepal that kicked off at Bhrikutimandap today, Minister Bhandari said the problems facing national economy could not be solved without the cooperation of the private sector.

He argued that the economic indicators witnessed improvement recently. "Capital market should thrive with boost in domestic production and reduction of trade deficit," he said, adding that introduction of the latest technology would ensure upward trend in economic activities.

According to him, major challenge was to replace imports and increase exports, for which preparations were on to amend various laws related to industry and business. Domestic investors would be encouraged by the government, he assured.

Bhandari further argued that Nepal had an investment-friendly environment so the industrialists need not worry more but be confident.

On the occasion, FNCCI Chairman Chandra Dhakal and other businesspersons lauded government's initiatives for improving the economic situation in line with private sectors' suggestions.
