Kathmandu, October 31 — The second largest festival for Hindus, Tihar, has begun to illuminate the country with its festive spirit starting from Kartik Krishna Trayodashi (thirteenth day of the dark lunar fortnight).

Homes and offices are being cleaned and decorated with colorful lights for the celebration. The Kathmandu Valley has become a vibrant spectacle, filled with brightness that brings joy to the outdoor atmosphere.

Today, homes are being thoroughly cleaned and decorated for Dipawali to welcome Goddess Lakshmi.

Every year, the festival of Yamapanchak, or Tihar, is celebrated from Kartik Krishna Trayodashi to Kartik Shukla Dwitiya (second day of the bright fortnight), and this year it officially started on Tuesday.
