Over 50 million rupees misappropriated in Parbat cooperative

Pokhara, October 28 —  Embezzlement has been confirmed at the Nagdhunga Cooperative in Phalebas, Parbat. An investigation has revealed that the board of directors misappropriated over 50 million rupees from the cooperative.

According to a study by the expert group, approximately 48 million rupees deposited by savers have been misappropriated. Currently, the cooperative's chairman, Giri Narayan Shrestha, and manager, Anil Bahadur KC, are absconding.

The treasurer, Dirgha Narayan Sharma, has been arrested, as informed by the Parbat police. The police have issued arrest warrants against the others and initiated legal proceedings.

According to the investigation by the Gandaki Province Cooperative Registrar's office, there are 19 defendants involved. The cooperative has around 650 savers.

Following the findings of misconduct, a case has already been filed at the District Police Office. The police are preparing to present the case in court through the government attorney's office.
