RSP plans protest against Oli government in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, October 24 — The Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to hold a protest against the KP Oli-led government on Friday in Kathmandu. The demonstration will take place at Maitighar Mandala at 1 PM, with an appeal to unite against 'political revenge'.

Although the protest is organized by the party, RSP's central committee member Pukar Bam has encouraged general public participation.

"We have publicly called for action against the arrogance and retaliatory measures of the two-thirds government. The movement will no longer be limited to Pokhara or specific individuals or parties. It has now evolved into a broader campaign. We will launch a nationwide expose against the Oli government," Bam stated in an interview with Ratopati.

"While the party raises issues, districts and provinces will lead the movement. We have made public appeals regarding cooperative fraud and other corruption issues. We believe in collective unity. The party flag will not be the focus; this is an open, spontaneous initiative."

To prepare for the protest, meetings with central leaders available at the district, provincial, and central levels are currently underway. Bam mentioned that discussions are focused on ensuring the movement remains peaceful and organized.

Former Home Minister and RSP President Rabi Lamichhane was arrested by the police last Friday in Kathmandu on charges related to cooperative fraud and taken to Pokhara. RSP leaders and activists have been protesting continuously since Saturday, alleging that the government is trying to frame Lamichhane in false cases. On Thursday, the Kaski District Court granted the police permission to keep Lamichhane in custody for an additional seven days for further investigation.
