Nepal sees decline in both imports and exports in first quarter of fiscal year

Kathmandu, October 23 — Both imports and exports have decreased during the first three months of the current fiscal year 2081/82. According to the Department of Customs, imports have declined by 4.17% and exports by 6.11% compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

During this three-month period, Nepal has engaged in foreign trade amounting to NPR 4 trillion 29 billion 130 million. This has resulted in a trade deficit of NPR 3 trillion 52 billion 370 million. The reduction in both imports and exports has led to a 3.96% decrease in the trade deficit compared to the same period last year.

From Shrawan to Ashwin, Nepal has imported goods and services worth NPR 3 trillion 90 billion 720 million and exported goods valued at NPR 38 billion 370 million during this timeframe.
