Speaker Ghimire in discussions with chief whips and committee chairs (Photos)
Kathmandu, October 22 — Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has commenced consultations with the chairs of parliamentary committees and the chief whips of major political parties regarding the clause-wise examination of pending bills. These discussions are currently taking place in the Speaker's office at Singhadurbar.
The Speaker convened the committee chairs to avert any potential stagnation in legislative business during the forthcoming parliamentary session. The chairs conveyed their concerns, highlighting that the absence of sessions often results in members of parliament being away from their districts, thereby complicating efforts to achieve quorum for committee meetings. In light of these concerns, the Speaker has initiated these crucial discussions.
Among the attendees at the meeting are Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, chief whip of the ruling CPN-UML Mahesh Bartaula, chief whip of the Nepali Congress Shyam Kumar Ghimire, and chief whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Hitaraj Pandey, along with other notable figures.
