Speaker Ghimire to discuss parliamentary bills with party whips today
Kathmandu, October 22 — Speaker Devraj Ghimire is set to discuss with the chief whips of political parties and the chairpersons of parliamentary committees today regarding bills under discussion. The meeting will commence at 11:30 AM in the Speaker's office.
The Speaker is engaging in these discussions to prevent a lack of business in the upcoming parliamentary session. Committee chairs have expressed concerns to the Speaker about the difficulty of achieving quorum when members are outside their districts due to the absence of sessions.
Invitations to the meeting have been extended to Mahesh Bartaula, the chief whip of the ruling party UML, Shyamkumar Ghimire, the chief whip of Nepali Congress, Hitaraj Pandey, the chief whip of the Maoist Centre, Santosh Pariyar, the chief whip of the Rashtriya Swotantra Party, and Gyan Bahadur Shahi, the chief whip of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party.
There are bills for discussion in the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Infrastructure Development Committee, Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, Industry, Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee, Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, and the Finance Committee.
