Arrest warrant issued against Inspector Binu Shahi in 'honey trap' case

Kathmandu, October 16 —  An arrest warrant has been issued against Inspector Binu Shahi by the Lalitpur District Court. Lalitpur SSP Shekhar Khanal confirmed to Ratopati that the warrant was issued.

The district court in Lalitpur has allowed the arrest for investigating a case where a realtor was allegedly extorted under a "honey trap."

Four individuals, including a junior constable, are currently in custody on charges of extorting money from the businessman by threatening to frame him in a rape case. Those in custody include Susma BK and Tajmul Islam from Itahari, as well as Bhimadevi Thapa and junior constable Mahendra Hamal.

Darshan Pokharel, also from Itahari, is reportedly on the run. The Lalitpur district police are investigating them for criminal profit-related offenses.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the group extorted 3 million Nepali Rupees from the realtor in Sanagau, Lalitpur. Police found that 2 million was deposited in Bhimadevi Thapa's account in two transactions. The businessman has accused Inspector Binu Shahi of colluding with the group to collect the money. Previously, the Home Ministry had decided to suspend Shahi.

Susma BK, a 19-year-old from Dhankuta living in Itahari, filed a complaint on September 22 at the Bhainsepati police station, claiming that a man verbally abused and threatened her, leading to a new twist in the case.
