Stock market sees modest gains ahead of Dashain
Kathmandu, October 9 — The stock market experienced a slight increase on Wednesday. On the last trading day before Dashain, the market index rose by 4.85 points, reaching 2,668.17. Today, shares worth 3.76 billion Nepali Rupees were bought and sold, totaling 831,200 shares.
Among the shares traded today, the prices of 130 companies increased, while 102 companies saw a decline and 11 companies' prices remained stable.
In today’s market, out of 13 sub-indices, declines were noted in the development bank, investment, life insurance, and trading sectors, while improvements were observed in the remaining 9 sub-groups. The production and processing sector saw the highest increase of 1.05%. All fluctuating indices experienced less than 1% volatility.
The shares of Middle Solu Hydropower also saw a positive circuit today, following a similar trend on Tuesday. The prices of Upper Syange and Rapti Hydropower have increased by more than 9%. However, Three Star Hydro experienced a negative circuit.
Nepal Finance Limited had the highest share transactions in the market today, while Sanima Bank led in terms of transaction volume and number of shares traded.
The stock market will only reopen on Tuesday. Due to the public holidays given for Dashain, the market will be closed for five days.
