Light to moderate rain expected across four provinces

Kathmandu, October 1 — Following a period of clear weather after a major disaster, the Koshi Province is experiencing renewed cloud cover starting today. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, clouds have settled over Koshi, and their effects are expected to extend to Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces as well.

Meteorologist Prativa Manandhar stated, “Cloud cover will bring light to moderate rainfall. Specifically, light to moderate rain is expected in Koshi Province, spreading to Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Lumbini regions will see less precipitation.” This weather pattern is expected to last through tomorrow and the day after, although significant and continuous rainfall is not anticipated.

However, due to previous rains having saturated the land, even a small amount of rain could increase the risk of floods and landslides. Currently, the influence of monsoon winds remains strong across the country.

Manandhar noted that a low-pressure system in Madhya Pradesh, India, is partially affecting weather conditions in Nepal. Tonight, partial to generally cloudy weather is expected across the hilly regions, with light to moderate rain likely. On October 2, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The department has also indicated that similar conditions will persist on October 3, with potential heavy rainfall in one or two areas of Koshi Province, as outlined in their latest bulletin.
