Saurya Air captain Shakya being discharged today

Kathmandu: Kathmandu Model City (KMC) Hospital is preparing to discharge Captain Manish Ratna Shakya, who was injured in the Saurya Airlines plane crash. Dr. Sunil Sharma, head of the hospital and a member of the House of Representatives, announced that Captain Shakya's health has improved and he is ready to be discharged today.

Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka visited the hospital on Thursday to check on Shakya's condition. After assessing Shakya’s health, Dr. Sharma, who accompanied Khadka, praised the hospital staff for their efficient and dedicated care, which played a crucial role in Shakya's recovery.

Dr. Sharma also highlighted that the successful treatment of Shakya demonstrates the hospital's technical capabilities.

Hospital Director Dr. Meena Thapa added that Shakya's condition is stabilizing. She noted, "His treatment is ongoing, but there is no need for him to remain in the hospital. He can continue his therapy and follow-up treatments at home."

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority has imposed a ban on Captain Shakya discussing the incident. As a result, Shakya’s planned press conference at the hospital has been canceled.

The plane, which crashed on July 23 while traveling from Tribhuvan International Airport to Pokhara, resulted in 18 fatalities. Captain Shakya was rescued from the crash site and brought to KMC Hospital in an injured state.
