Swiss ambassador paid a courtesy visit to Home Minister Lekhak

Kathmandu: Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Dr. Danielle Meuwly paid a courtesy visit to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak today. During their meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday, Lekhak highlighted the longstanding strong bilateral relations between Nepal and Switzerland, which have been in place since 1956.

Lekhak noted that President Ramchandra Paudel's visit to Switzerland on June 11 for a bilateral meeting with the Swiss President had further strengthened the ties between the two nations. He commended Swiss support for Nepal's peace process and emphasized that despite geographical distance and varying development levels, Nepal and Switzerland have maintained a relationship of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect.

He also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation to Nepal's socio-economic development. Lekhak expressed hope that Swiss assistance will continue to be available in the areas of disaster management and climate change in the future.

Furthermore, Home Minister Lekhak anticipated ongoing cooperation with Switzerland in resources, partnerships, and technology to help Nepal achieve its goal of transitioning from a low-income to a middle-income country by 2030.

Ambassador Meuwly expressed a keen interest in Nepal's transitional justice issues and assured that Switzerland will continue to support the implementation of transitional justice initiatives.
