NC approves Parliamentary Party Statute

Kathmandu - The Central Executive Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress today approved the 'Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Statute-2074 BS'. 
A meeting of Central Executive Committee held at Party central office, Sanepa, passed the statute and formed a committee to carryout homework for the process to elect the parliamentary party leader. NC leader Chinkaji Shrestha is the coordinator of the committee where Bhishma Raj Aangdambe and Nabindra Raj Joshi are the members, said Party Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma. 
The committee would do necessary homework to elect the parliamentary party leader or to give completion to election process. 
A joint meeting of NC parliamentarians represented in the House of Representatives and National Assembly held on Saturday sent the draft of the statute of the NC parliamentary Party at central committee after passing it unanimously for its approval. 
The NC amended the Parliamentary Party statute as per the bicameral legislature and passed it. 
Initiating the meeting, President Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the next meeting would make some decisions to take the party ahead as per the conclusion after holding serious review of local-level, House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections. 
On the occasion, NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel presented proposal outlining the causes behind party's defeat in elections, weakness of party and NC-led government and suggestion to improve the party in days ahead. 
The proposal demands 14th general convention of the party soon by calling the party's Mahasamiti meeting. 
The proposal points out weak internal force of the party as the main reason and alliance between two communist parties as the second reason behind the defeat of the party in the recent elections. However, the proposal was not discussed, according to spokesperson Sharma. Party Chair Deuba said a separate meeting would be held over the matter after the PP leader is elected. 

The meeting also decided to elect the PP leader and the working committee after the members of parliament take the oath of office and secrecy. The federal parliament is meeting on March 5. 

General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala said he suggested appointing the leader of the parliamentary party on a consensus. Majority of the members speaking today also stressed on appointing the leader on the basis of a consensus, given the result of the recent elections. 

The CEC also concluded that the failure of the President to endorse the recommendations made by the Deuba-led government to the post of member of National Assembly was a violation of the constitution.
