CPN-UML requests six seats in NA election, coalition partners divided on support

KATHMANDU: In the upcoming National Assembly election in January, the main opposition party, CPN-UML, has officially requested six out of the 19 vacant seats, as announced in a meeting at Baluwatar earlier today, chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

PM Dahal conveyed the UML's claim to the coalition members present. "UML is seeking six seats in the upcoming NA election, and I advocate for collaboration with UML," stated Prime Minister Dahal during the meeting.

Within the ruling alliance, both the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) have expressed a willingness to align with the CPN-UML. However, the CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party are currently not inclined to support this proposal.

To address this matter, a meeting has been scheduled for later this evening, involving representatives from CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML, and Nepali Congress, aiming to discuss and potentially reach a consensus on the distribution of seats for the upcoming National Assembly election.
