Rastriya Swatantra Party Lumbini Province Elects New Leadership

Butwal. Six individuals have registered their candidacies for the post of Provincial President in the first provincial convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Lumbini Province. The selection of new leadership will be through an election after the effort for consensus leadership was unsuccessful.

Shalikram Ghimire, Dr. Rajkumar Subedi, Ganesh Poudel, Madhu Aryal, House of Representatives member Manju Bhusal from Rupandehi, and Gopal Ghimire from Arghakhanchi have registered their candidacies for the Provincial President post.

According to the Election Committee, more than one hundred candidacies have been filed for the 42-member Provincial Working Committee. Gokul Sapkota, the Chief Election Officer, informed that 843 provincial representatives from 12 districts of Lumbini Province will vote to elect the new leadership.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the convention held in Dang on Saturday, RSP's Bhupdev Shah stated that although the party has succeeded in reaching the government through elections, there is still much work to be done to make the party more institutional, organized, and strong. He expressed confidence that capable leadership will be elected through the upcoming general convention, advancing the party and the country towards progress.

Similarly, RSP's Joint General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya expressed the view that while competition for leadership is a natural process, leadership that cannot provide the right direction to the party should be able to step down from responsibility. He urged party workers aspiring for leadership to remain continuously active in organization building with patience.

The Election Committee has stated that the voting process will begin as all necessary preparations have been completed. The new leadership elected from the convention will take responsibility for expanding and strengthening the party organization in Lumbini Province in the upcoming term.
