Customs Revenue of 67 billion collected in two months
Only 76 percent of target collected
KATHMANDU, Sep 24: A total of Rs 67 billion and 470 million was collected through the tax levied on imported goods during the two months of the current fiscal year 2080/81.
The Ministry of Finance had set a target of collecting Rs 89 billion and 100 million in customs revenue in the months of Shrawan and Bhadra. However, only 76 percent of the target was collected during this period.
Similarly, Rs 259 billion has been expended on imports during the two months of the current fiscal year 2080/81. This is 5.06 percent less than the two months of the previous year as Rs 273 billion was imported in the last fiscal year 2079/80.
The export of goods has also decreased compared to last year. Goods worth Rs 26 billion and 440 million have been exported in the two months of the current fiscal year 2080/81. It is 7.79 percent lower compared to the two months of the previous year as goods worth Rs 28 billion 680 million were exported in the last fiscal year 2079/80.
Along with the decrease in imports and exports, the trade deficit has also decreased by 4.74 percent. The trade deficit of Nepal during the two months is Rs 233 billion whereas the trade deficit was Rs 244 billion in the previous year.
