Nemwang’s funeral to be held Thursday

Mortal body to be kept in his home after 1 pm on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Sep 12: The last rites of Subash Chandra Nemwang, the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly and Vice Chairman of CPN UML, will be held only on Thursday.

The Deputy General Secretary of CPN UML, Pradip Gyawali, said that Nemwang’s sons will only arrive on Wednesday afternoon, so his last rites will be held only on Thursday. According to Gyawali, Nemwang’s mortal body will be kept at the Central office of CPN UML till 1 pm on Wednesday and will be taken to his residence after that. After his body is taken to his home, the necessary rites according to the Kirant culture will be conducted. Nemwang’s funeral will be held at Pashupati.

The emergency meeting of the Cabinet held on Tuesday has already decided to perform his funeral with state honours and give a mourning holiday on the day of the funeral.

The Secretariat meeting of CPN UML that was held on Tuesday has decided to postpone formal programs of the party for three days and fly the party flag at half-mast mourning the demise of Nemwang.

Nemwang passed away last night due to a heart attack at 71. Nemwang has two sons and two daughters.
