"198 juvenile escapees have come into contact" - Police

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: 198 of the 221 juvenile detainees, who escaped from the Juvenile Reform Centre in Sano Thimi, have come into contact with the Police. Valley Police Office DIG Lalmani Acharya informed Ratopati that 23 of the escapees are yet to come into contact.

The Police have arrested the escapees from Koteshwor, Baneshwor and Satdobato areas. Some juvenile detainees were brought into contact by their families, DIG Acharya informed.

A clash occurred in the reform centre after a juvenile detainee, Kamal Basnet, 18, died on Sunday morning. Staff members of the reform centre took him to Nagarik Community Hospital for alleged health problems but his family members claimed that he died before reaching the hospital.

18 security personnel including an inspector and a juvenile detainee were injured in the clash. 221 juvenile detainees escape amidst the turmoil of the clash.
