86 escaped minor detainees arrested from Baneshwar
KATHMANDU, Aug 21: The 86 minor detainees of the Juvenile Detention Center in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur that escaped have been arrested from the Baneshwar area. They were caught by Police from Koteshwar, Tinkune and New Baneshwar while coming from Bhaktapur.
The 86 arrested have been kept at the Police Circle in New Baneshwar.
A 3-membered committee has been formed in coordination with Bhaktapur’s Assistant Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula. District Police Range DSP Basanta Pathak and an officer of the Ministry of Women and Children are members of the investigation committee.
A 'minor detainee' died suspiciously at the Juvenile Detention Center in Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur. The protest intensified after the death of 18-year-old Kamal Basnet, a resident of Manthali Municipality in Ramechhap district, on Sunday morning.
The staff of the rehabilitation centre took him to the Civil Community Hospital saying that he was suffering from health problems, but his family members claimed that he died before reaching the hospital. According to the order of the court, Basnet was in the Juvenile Detention Center since 2077 BS.
