Youth and Sports Minister attends UN 7th ECOSOC Youth Forum
Kathmandu, Minister for Youth and Sports, Rajendra Kumar KC, today participated in the ministerial level discussions on the theme of 'economic investment on youth development and ways of implementation' under the United Nations 7th Economic and Social Council Youth Forum. The Council is currently underway in New York, USA.
On the occasion, Minister KC expressed that the federal governance system recently adopted by Nepal has created employment opportunities for the youth within the country itself, the New York-based Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations stated in a press release.
He also said that youth-targeted programmes implemented by the Poverty Alleviation Fund, the Youth and Small Entrepreneurs Self-employment Fund and the Rural Area Employment Programme have also helped promote self-employment climate for the youth in the country so that they need not go for abroad employment.
Minister KC also took part in the discussions on 'role of youth in building sustainable urban and rural communities' organised as part of the Council. On the occasion, he spoke on the contribution that youth can make towards attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
