Files fail to reach bench, Court hearings adjourned across country

KATHMANDU, July 2: Court activities have come to a standstill after the employees initiated a pen-down strike regarding the Premika Tamang case. Court workers and officers across the country have initiated the strike on protest after a legal practitioner attacked Lalitpur District Court employee Premika Tamang on Wednesday.

Various worker associations across the country released a press release on Friday announcing the launch of the pen-down strike on Sunday from 10 in the morning to 1:30 in the afternoon. Supreme Court Advocate Bimal Paudel informed that cases and petitions had been scheduled to be heard in the Supreme Court but were stopped. The hearings were affected as the files failed to reach the bench.

"The cause list was scheduled. But the employees had already issued a press release and a written letter about the strike. They have launched the pen down strike from 10 am to 1:30 pm", Advocate Paudel informed, "The bench is not active now, let's hope the bench will resume after 1:30 pm."
