KATHMANDU, April 6: Punjab Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 runs in Match 8 of the TATA IPL 2023 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan led from the front with a perfectly paced 86* off 56 balls.

PBKS scored 197/4, with Prabhsimran Singh contributing 60 off 34 balls. Nathan Ellis took 4/30, and Samson (42 off 25) and Dhruv Jurel (32* off 15) led RR's fightback. PBKS held their nerve to win a tense finish, defending 16 runs off the last over.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bowl. PBKS named Rishi Dhawan, Atharva Taide, Matthew Short, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, and Mohit Rathee as their substitutes, while RR named Akash Vashisht, Dhruv Jhurel, Murugan Ashwin, Kuldip Yadav, and Donovan Ferreira as their substitutes.
