Ram Chandra Poudel elected President of Nepal

KATHMANDU, March 9: Ram Chandra Poudel was elected as Nepal's new president after securing a resounding victory in the election.

Poudel received 214 votes from the House of Representatives and 352 votes from the Provincial Assemblies. His closest rival, Subhash Chandra Nembang of the CPN-UML, trailed far behind with 162 votes from the House of Representatives and 98 votes from the Provincial Assemblies.
The election saw five invalid votes out of the total count.

The election results indicate a clear mandate for Poudel, who is now poised to assume the role of the country's president.
