JSP demands to handle same Ministry as before
KATHMANDU, Jan. 11: With the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal supporting the government, the internal discussion about ministries and ministers, has started in the party. JSP is almost certain to go to the government and some leaders are aspiring to become Ministers. After Ashok Rai, the President of the Federal Council of the party did not get to join the government, the discussion of sending his wife Sushila Shrestha has come out. Similarly, there is a talk of Rajkishore Yadav, Deepak Karki, Nabalkishore Sah, and Rekha Yadav for the minister. Another leader, Ramsahaya Yadav, has been made the leader of the parliamentary party, but the party's leaders say that there is little chance of him being sent to the government.
According to sources, JSP proposed to the alliance to repeat the ministry it had previously held. Earlier, in the government led by Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, JSP held the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, the Ministry of Forestry, and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Public Administration. According to a source close to the party, JSP president Upendra Yadav has initiated an effort in the alliance for these three ministries. Sources say that it is almost certain that they will get two ministries, but they have claimed three.
There are 12 MPs from JSP including 7 direct and 5 proportional. "Since there are 12 MPs, it is justified for us to demand 3 or 4 ministries," said an executive member of JSP and also added, "JSP has claimed the Ministry, as well as the Vice President, and the party President has also put this issue before Prime Minister Prachanda and UML president Oli."
The leader said that JSP will claim the Vice Presidentship along with two ministries or 3 to 4 ministries. Purna Basnet, Head of the JSP Publicity Department, claimed that there was no discussion in the party about how many ministries to take or not take. "The party has already given the support and vote of confidence to the government. Now there will be a discussion in the party about whether to go to the government or not. And only after that will there be a discussion about how many ministries to take, whom to send for Ministers", he said.
