Journalist-turned politician Lamichhane wins election in Chitwan-2

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Rabi Lamichhane, a journalist-turned politician, Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party, has been elected a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) but the formal announcement is yet to be made.

With 4,337 votes remaining to be counted, Lamichhane is already ahead of his nearest contender by 31,528 votes..

As of early Thursday morning, as many as 79,259 votes have been counted so far. Of them, Lamichhane garnered 45,934 votes while his nearest contender Umesh Shrestha of Nepali Congress got 14,406 votes. Likewise, Krishna Bhakta Pokharel of CPN-UML collected 14,056 votes.
