Statement recording of suspended CJ Rana to continue on Thursday

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The recording of suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana is scheduled to continue on Thursday.

The impeachment recommendation committee began recording CJ Rana’s statement from Wednesday. 

Earlier in February, as many as 98 lawmakers of Congress, Maoist Center and CPN (Unified Socialist) registered the motion at the Parliament Secretariat. Following the registration, an Impeachment Recommendation Committee was also formed.

The 11-member committee includes four lawmakers of UML, two each of Nepali congress and CPN (Maoist Center), and one each of CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party.

The committee can record statements of both CJ Rana and those who registered the motion.

Recording his statement on Wednesday, Rana maintained that the impeachment motion was void and asked the committee for justice.
