Finance Ministry approves recruitment of 115,000 temporary police for upcoming polls

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The Finance Ministry has approved recruitment of 115,000 temporary police for the upcoming election of the House of Representatives (HoR) and provincial assembly.

Earlier, the Nepal police had proposed recruitment of 120,000 temporary police for the upcoming polls scheduled for November 20 later this year.

Prior to this, the government had recruited 100,000 temporary police during the local level polls.

As the number of polling stations and polling centers will be higher than that of local polls, the number of security personnel required has also increased, according to the Police Headquarters.
