COVID-19 rising again-should we worry?

KATHMANDU, July 3: In recent days, Nepal has been witnessing a rise in the number of new cases of COVID-19, especially in the capital city.

Few weeks ago, the COVID-19 positivity rate was below one percent in the country, but the percent has almost reached two percent in recent days, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

The new cases are rising in India as well which might be causing a rise in the numbers in Nepal as the two countries share an open border, according to officials at the Ministry.

Health experts in Nepal have already warned against the fourth wave of COVID-19 there.

According to the latest data from the MoHP, as many as 325 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country in the past seven days. The number of active cases of the disease was 314 on Saturday.

The country witnessed 62 new cases of COVID-19 on June 29. The number was 55 on June 30.
