Top political leaders head for home district ahead of local polls
KATHMANDU, May 10: As the local level election is all set to kick off on May 13, top political leaders have diverted their focus toward their home districts.
The silence period of the local polls are soon to begin from Tuesday midnight. After midnight all forms of election campaign will be prohibited.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to address a public gathering at his home district Dadeldhura. Likewise, Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal are scheduled to address similar gatherings at their home districts Jhapa, Province 2 and Rautahat respectively.
PM Deuba will be staying at Dadeldhura and returning to Kathmandu only after casting his votes on May 13, according to Govinda Pariyar, Deuba’s press advisor.
Similarly, Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) is currently busy with election campaigns in Madhesh Province while Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is holding various election campaigns in Jhapa.
