Bharatpur’s Mayor Dahal resigns ahead of filing candidacy for next term
KATHMANDU, April 22: Renu Dahal, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City resigned from her post on Friday.
As per the Election Code of Conduct issued by the Election Commission, those local representatives vying for the next term will have to first resign from their post before filing their candidacy.
With her resignation, it is now clear that Dahal will be vying for next term as the metropolis’s mayor.
As per the decision to forge an electoral alliance among the members of the ruling alliance, the post of mayor of Bharatpur metropolis has been given to the CPN (Maoist Center).
Earlier, Dahal was elected mayor of Bharatpur with 43,127 votes. Her nearest contender was Devi Prasad Gyawali, UML leader. He had garnered 42,924 votes.
