Security on high alert ahead of Chinese FM Yi’s visit

Security tightened at Boudhanath and Swayambhunath areas

KATHMANDU, March 25: Security in the Kathmandu Valley has been tightened ahead of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit.

Minster Yi is arriving in Kathmandu this afternoon at around 4 PM.

A meeting of the Central Security Committee held on the Chairmanship of Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand earlier today took a decision to tighten the security in the valley.

Security personnel are on high alert especially in the Boudhanath and Swayambhunath areas.

Minister Yi will be staying in Dwarika Hotel in Kathmandu.

Foreign Minister Yi is visiting Nepal on the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart Narayan Khadka, according to the Foreign Ministry.

Minister Yi is scheduled to call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Likewise, Narayan Khadka, Minister of Foreign Affairs will be holding a meeting with his counterpart on March 26. 

Besides, Yi is also scheduled to hold discussions with KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of CPN-UML and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center). 

Minister Yi will be flying to China on March 27.
