Nepal Vs PNG: PNG sets mammoth target of 293 for Nepal (with photos)
KATHMANDU, March 25: Papua New Guinea (PNG) on Thursday set a target of 293 runs for Nepal to register a win in the One Day International (ODI) series being played at Kirtipur Cricket Ground, in Kathmandu.
Invited to bat first, PNG collected 292 runs in loss of eight wickets in 50 overs.
Charles Jordan Alewa Amini, left hand batsman and an allrounder, scored the highest of 77 runs in the match, hitting six fours and one maximum. Likewise, Asad Vala, PNG captain, scored 60 runs, hitting 11 fours in 55 balls.
Nepal now requires to collect 293 runs in 50 overs game to win. Dipendra Singh Airee, Sompal Kami and Kamal Airee took 2 wickets each while Sandeep Lamichhane and Pawan Saraf took one wicket each.
Nepali Cricket Team is playing for the first time in the home ground under the captaincy of Sandeep Lamichhane today.
Earlier, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), two countries had played two ODIs and Nepal had clinched victory in both the games by two and seven wickets respectively.
