Mercury dips to 2.6 degree Celsius in Kathmandu Valley
Valley experiences this year's coldest day so far
KATHMANDU: Dec 18: Kathmandu Valley's temperature has dipped to 2.6 degree Celsius Saturday.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Kathmandu Valley experienced the coldest day of this year so far today.
The temperature of the Valley was recorded at 3.4 degree Celsius on Friday.
With the fall in mercury, people have experienced cold across the nation including Kathmandu valley.
Meteorologist at the Department, Pratibha Manandhar, said that the Valley's temperature is decreasing day by day and it will continue to fluctuate in the next few days.
Manandhar added temperature rises during day time if the sky remains cloudy at night and it decreases if the sky remains clear during day time.
Similarly, western Terai districts have been experiencing a chilling cold. People's daily life has been hit hard due to fog and mist in most of the districts in Tarai.
Doctors have suggested that people adopt measures to keep themselves warm as the cold has mostly affected elderly people and children.
As per the latest details of the Meteorological Forecasting Division, today's minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley is recorded 2.6 degree Celsius and maximum temperature 19.0 degree Celsius.
Jumla saw the lowest temperature with minus five degree Celsius while Bhairahawa witnessed the highest with 28.1 degree Celsius today.
