Ambitious development plans form election agenda in Ramechap
Manthali- The candidates contesting in the November 26 election to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies from Ramechhap have promised ambitious projects and plans in their election manifestos.
Accordingly, the leftist alliance has made reservoir-based projects as the major agenda for the election. The alliance has pledged to build five such projects in Khimti river corridor, seven in Likhu corridor, Tamakoshi-I, Sunkoshi-I and other small and medium hydropower projects. The target is to produce around 2000 MW of power by promoting favourable investment environment for the same.
The alliance candidates have also been promising to voters to set up a cement industry in Sukajor area of Ramechhap municipality, a stone quarry in the Base area of the municipality and an iron mine in Those, and timber and non-timber industries as well.
The commitment letter of the alliance also claims to ensure one employment per household, construct a stadium in every rural municipality with a capacity for 10,000 people and establish e-transaction to replace the cash payment system gradually.
Similarly, the letter reads to connect every village by road to the district headquarters, provincial and national road networks.
The alliance candidates have also committed to welcoming tourists to boost local economy. For the purpose, infrastructure would be developed at Shailung, Sunapati, Doramba, Khandadevi Danda, Triveni Tamodanda, Thodung, Numbur, Umatirtha and Jattapokhari areas.
The left candidate for the provincial election 'A' Shanti Prasad Poudel has promised to address problems facing the locals if elected in the elections.
Nepali Congress candidate to House of Representatives, Purna Bahadur Tamang (Kanchharam Tamang) said that road construction would be given priority as economic development shall accelerate with road facility. "I have a plan to operate air service from Manthali to Lukla," he said.
The district has one constituency and two state assembly seats. There are 73,176 voters in state assembly 'A' constituency and 79,389 voters in state assembly 'B', according to the District Election Office, Ramechhap.
There are 90 polling centres and 191 polling stations in the district. Some 1,528 employees and 2,228 security personnel have been deployed in the district for the election.
The district has now a total of 152,559 voters.
