NC registers three proposals in House of Representatives

The main opposition party in parliament, the Nepali Congress, has registered three proposals in the House of Representatives.

Members of Parliament from the NC registered two proposals of public importance and a resolution proposal at the Federal Parliament Secretariat on Tuesday.

A proposal has been registered to draw the attention of the Minister for Home Affairs on a topic of public importance related to minimizing the violence against women and children. The proposal states that it has become inevitable for the House to issue guideline to the government to address and reduce the violence against women.

The proposal related to the Ministry of Home Affairs was registered by lawmakers Dr Dila Sangraula, Laxmi Pariyar and Pramila Rai.

Similarly, another proposal of public importance is related to the impact of COVID-19 on labour, employment and social security in foreign employment sector. The proposal states that discussions on this topic needed to be held in parliament to seek detailed statistics regarding how many Nepali migrant workers on foreign employment lost their lives as well as their job and how many returned home due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Similarly, the NC has, in the proposal, sought information regarding government's relief and support to the families of those who died from COVID-19, and to those losing employment as well as holding discussion over the government's plans how to make overseas employment safe.

Parliamentarians—Dr Sangraula, Dev Prasad Timilsina and Rangamati Shahi had registered the proposal.

Demanding different provision to control violence against women, NC's Dr Sangraula, Hira Gurung and Namita Kumari Chaudhary have given information to the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens for permission to submit the related resolution.

Establishment of a help desk to provide service to victims of violence, to make the  arrangement of mobile team effective to protect the victims as well as to make arrangement of treatment to victims in coordination with Ministry of Health and Population and Police have been demanded in the proposal.
