KMC urges citizens to abide by lockdown more scrupulously

Kathmandu - The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has urged the Kathmandu Valley denizens to rigorously abide by the lockdown as the risk of COVID-19 has increased in the Valley in recent days. KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya, who is also the coordinator of the Kathmandu Valley Municipalities Forum, said the pandemic might go out of control if people start becoming lenient to the lockdown orders.

He urged the local, State and federal governments to be serious and focussed on implementing the lockdown in a more stringent manner in such a situation. Shakya has made this appeal after three people tested positive to coronavirus in the Valley on a single day on Tuesday. He said high alertness was needed in such situation. "There would be more problem with the race for people's movement. We have been stating since the beginning that the movement of people to and from the Valley should be strictly controlled.

However, we have received information that the flow of people entering the Valley misusing the vehicle special passes has not stopped. The detection of three more COVID-19 cases on Tuesday also proves this. The situation might go out of hand if we are not alert even after this," Mayor Shakya cautioned. He thanked the Valley citizens so far for cooperating fully by abiding the lockdown for long despite some difficulties and urged them to have patience for some time more.
