Rastriya Swatantra Party Announces Special Provisions for National Convention Delegate Selection

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has made special arrangements for the delegate selection process for the upcoming national convention. The party's Central Organization Department has published a work procedure regarding special arrangements for delegates for 7 districts of Madhesh Province (excluding Parsa) and districts in other provinces where elections could not be held.

According to Bodh Narayan Shrestha, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Department, this arrangement has been made to strengthen the organization and make the convention inclusive.

• These are the main provisions

1. Special arrangements for Madhesh and other districts: For 7 districts of Madhesh Province (excluding Parsa) and for areas in other provinces where district conventions and elections have not been completed, specific criteria for delegates have been set.  

2.  It has been informed that representation from Bara district will not be possible for now as it is currently dissolved. However, it is mentioned that the party secretariat's special decision will be followed accordingly.

3. Representation from Province and Departments: All provincial committee office bearers and members registered on the central portal will automatically become convention delegates. Office bearers of Provincial Discipline, Accounts, and Election Commissions will also be delegates. The heads, deputy heads, and secretaries from provincial departments will be able to represent. The Province-Kathmandu Contact Department will have 3 delegates including the head (one woman mandatory).

4. District and Electoral Constituency: From districts where elections have not been completed, 3 members including the District President (1 woman mandatory) will be selected as delegates. If there is no woman, only 2 people will be allowed to come. In the case of electoral constituencies, if the constituency has not been abolished, 1 coordinator will be able to participate.

5. Palika Level Representation: From Palikas where elections have been completed, the President or 1 office bearer designated by them will be a delegate. Even from Palikas with ad-hoc committees where elections have not been completed, 1 President will be able to participate, but another person cannot be sent.

Arrangements have been made for additional delegates to be selected from Palikas based on the number of members

• From a rural municipality with more than 201 members - 1 person
• From a municipality with more than 401 members - 2 people
• From a sub-metropolitan city with more than 501 members - 3 people
• From a metropolitan city with more than 701 members - 4 people
