Rani community forest users’ committee receives outstanding forestry award
BAGMATI, July 7: Rani Community Forest Users’ Group of Hetauda-6 in the Bagmati province headquarters has received an outstanding forestry award for the fiscal year 2020/21. The award carries a purse of Rs 50,000.
According to the Division Forest Office, Makawanpur, the Rani Community forest users’ group, among other active groups across the district, was awarded in recognition of its outstanding performance in different indicators. The award was given away to the users’ group for its result-based performance in the forestry management and group mobilization, decision-making process, good governance, social development and transparency in line with the community forest guidelines.
Earlier too, the users’ group had received the Ganeshman Singh Forest Conservation First Award in 2057 BS, the Forest Conservation Youth Award in 2054 BS, the Bandevi Award in 2060 BS and district-level forestry awards for two times.
Many people from different parts of the country and beyond come here to observe the Rani Community forest which is popular in national and international arena. The group is also considered the best performer in the preservation of pangolin. It has constructed a ‘pangolin cage’ to preserve the endangered species.
Meanwhile, the Division Forest Office, Makawanpur has presented this year’s leasehold forestry award to Sungava Leasehold Forest Group, located in Bagmati rural municipality-7. The award carries a purse of Rs 30,000.
