Charges registered against GB Rai in Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case
Kathmandu, December 20 — The District Government Attorney’s Office in Kaski has announced plans to file charges in two phases regarding the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara.
On Friday, the office registered a case against 19 individuals, including the former chairman of the cooperative and the chairman of Galaxy 4K Television, GB Rai. The remaining defendants are expected to face charges by Sunday.
According to Kamala Kafle, head of the Kaski District Attorney's Office, supplementary charges were filed against some of the defendants on Friday, as there were no time limits for certain individuals.
The remaining charges will be registered by Sunday as per the legal deadline.
Although the office hours officially ended at 3 p.m. on Friday, the case was filed at the last minute.
A separate charge sheet will be presented for Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, and Chhabilal Joshi.
All the defendants named in the charges registered on Friday are currently absconding.
Additionally, claims of asset laundering charges have been made against some of the individuals involved.
