‘Culture of short-lived government phased out’

Bhaktapur–Minister for Forests and Environment, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, has said the culture of government change within a year has come to an end.

Speaking at a programme organised to announce the completion of the 21-day Araniko Highway sanitation campaign here today, the minister said people's complaint that the government failed to work swiftly as per their expectation was obvious.

"Eight-nine months have already been spent in the management of province and local governments by institutionalizing the federal democratic republic," he said, adding that onwards the government would work at high speed and leave no point for public complaint.

The ministry has always its support to any sanitation campaign and the works to develop a botanical garden in Bhaktapur would begin this year, he shared. "The works will begin once the preparation of detailed project report (DPR) gets completed and the Finance Ministry is positive to allocate budget for the project implementation."

Former Minister Mahesh Basnet who currently represents the Bhaktapur district in the House of Representatives promised efforts aimed to make the Surya Binayak and Madhyapur Thimi municipalities safe and clean right from today. He urged the Finance Ministry to release sufficient budget for the botanical garden. (Photo available)
