MP Uttam Prasad Poudel Promises Land Ownership Certificates to Pokhara Squatters

Pokhara Metropolitan City is preparing to remove squatters, landless Dalits, and unorganized residents and build a bus park there. While Mayor Dhanraj Acharya has been saying that they will be managed within a few weeks and a bus park will be built there, MP Poudel has warned that bulldozers will only run in the squatter settlement after providing land ownership certificates.

He has openly challenged them to record his commitment on their mobile phones. 'I cannot give you land ownership certificates today or tomorrow, but within the next few months, this Uttam Poudel will come with land ownership certificates in your hands,' he said, 'Everyone has a mobile phone, make a video and record this. ' While the metropolis is preparing to run bulldozers for the upgrade of the bus park, MP Poudel said that the local government cannot run bulldozers without the federal government making laws.

'Sometimes friends get scared and say - Oh, they are bringing bulldozers tomorrow, the day after tomorrow! Who will bring the bulldozers? The local government, they say! The local government must also be bound by law,' he continued, 'Doesn't the local government also have accountability to the people? With which heart can the government that took your valuable votes yesterday run bulldozers here without proper management?'

He stated that the squatters and unorganized settlements will be transformed into organized settlements and relocated. 'In a few months, your settlement will no longer be disorganized. It will become organized,' he says, 'There will be schools and hospitals. Your child will study in a nearby school, and your parents will get treatment in the hospital there.'
