Continuous Rainfall in Sudurpaschim Province Raises Flood and Landslide Risks

Dhangadhi. Continuous rainfall has been occurring in Sudurpaschim Province since last night. As rainfall is occurring from the Terai to the hilly districts of the province, concerned bodies have urged to exercise high vigilance, citing increased risks of floods, inundation, and landslides.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, continuous rainfall is occurring in districts including Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, and Darchula. Heavy rainfall is also occurring in some places. The department has requested special caution in areas at risk of rivers, streams, and landslides.

DSP Tek Bahadur Rawat of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, informed that heavy rainfall has been occurring in Kanchanpur since last night. According to him, no unpleasant incident due to flood, inundation, or rain has been reported so far.

“As the rainfall is continuous, the police are on alert. We have also urged the general public to take necessary precautions,” said DSP Rawat.

Police and local administration have requested the public to exercise special vigilance in areas where river and stream levels may rise, in vulnerable settlements, and in areas at risk of landslides, and to avoid going to risky places except for essential work.
