Nepali Congress Directs Overseas Chapters to Hold Conventions with Central Representative Presence

Kathmandu. The Nepali Congress's election committee has directed the party's overseas Nepali Janasamparka Samitis (Nepali Public Relations Committees) to hold conventions only in the presence of central representatives. The committee's meeting on Wednesday directed that conventions be completed by the end of July 2083 BS with the mandatory presence of central representatives. 

The meeting of the election committee, chaired by senior advocate and election committee coordinator Prem Bahadur Khadka, held at the party office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, also mentioned that new criteria and schedules have been set for the conventions of the Janasamparka Samitis. 

The meeting decided to strictly implement the provision of Article 14 (3) of the Party Constitution 2017 (as amended), and the election committee will not recognize conventions held without central representatives, as stated in a press release issued by the committee's member-secretary Raju Katwal. The Congress constitution has a provision that the convention of Janasamparka Samitis must be held only in the presence of representatives designated by the Central Election Committee. 

Before the convention, overseas committees must send the details of their members to the center, and the election committee will dispatch representatives for election purposes only after the party's central working committee approves the membership management, according to the press release issued by member-secretary Katwal. 

The election committee has decided to issue a circular to the Janasamparka Samitis to inform the center about the convention date in a timely manner once it is set. The deadline to complete the convention by the end of July was set according to the decision made by the party's central working committee on March 25, 2082 BS.
