CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet Warns Against Rightist Opportunism and Organizational Anarchy

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has stated that rightist opportunism and organizational anarchy are trying to weaken the UML. Secretary Basnet said this while leaders were engaged in regional gatherings and collecting suggestions regarding election review and party reorganization. “Fighting against rightist opportunism and organizational anarchy was the tactical slogan of the party’s 11th general convention. But, ironically, today it appears that the same rightist opportunism and organizational anarchy are trying to weaken the UML,” Secretary Basnet wrote on social media on Thursday. Using an analogy, Basnet said that the character of opportunists, who are never satisfied with greed for power, money, and prestige, is like that of a crying baby who keeps crying after being fed. He stated that no matter what is given to them, it is not enough; they remain unsatisfied, and their desires only increase. “Unfortunately, such tendencies are also seen growing within political parties,” said Basnet. He stated that today’s need is to firmly struggle against such opportunistic tendencies that prioritize personal interests over organization, thought, and principles, and to move forward by strengthening the movement ideologically, keeping the organization disciplined and united, and working towards the welfare of the people and the bright future of the country.
