Minister Lamsal Clarifies Controversial Statement on Contractors

Kathmandu. Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal has clarified the issue of a controversial statement. He gave an indirect answer to the statement 'break the legs of contractors who do not work' while responding to questions raised during the discussion on the allocation of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure under the Appropriation Bill.

'The other day, I myself got into controversy regarding the issue of poles,' he said, 'We do not want to take action against any businessman or cancel contracts. Our stance is that even if they have only one percent possibility, we should push them.'

He stated that there are three to four main problems related to infrastructure construction. He said that the management of construction materials is the most important. He also said that it takes years to get approval from the forest department.

He also mentioned that problems with insurance and shifting poles are also obstructing this.
