MP Harkaraj Rai Demands PM Balendra Shah Retract Border Remarks, Urges Government Action on Land Disputes

Kathmandu. Labor and Culture MP Harkaraj Rai has stated that Prime Minister Balendra Shah should immediately remove the statement he made regarding the border and that the statement should be removed.

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, MP Rai said that the issue of India building a high dam and stopping the flow of Lalbakaiya and Bagmati rivers in Rautahat has come to light, and the government should make the facts public.

“It seems to me that it is a treasonous treaty or agreement where we have to save India’s territory and they have to flood ours,” said MP Rai. “I want to demand that the government investigate this matter seriously.”

Similarly, he said that the government should show interest and concern when locals who have been living on Bitauri land for 85 years in Rajbiraj, Saptari, are agitating demanding land ownership certificates. Likewise, he drew the attention of the government through the Speaker towards solving the problems of locals in Ramdhuni, Sunsari 1, who have been clearing bushes and have not received land ownership certificates for 66 years. He demanded justice for some places where fake landowners are seen and where people have been staying for months.
