Hurdles in construction of Rahughat Sub-station

Babiyachour, Myagdi – Hurdle has surfaced at Rahughat Sub-station, going to be constructed at Piple of Raghuganga rural municipality-3 in Myagdi district, due to dispute over land compensation.

The hurdle occurred after the landowner of Aambang, the proposed area for the construction of the 132-KV sub-station, demonstrated, saying the compensation rate of the land determined by the District Administration Office was not 'justifiable and practical'.

The Nepal Electric Authority has been making preparation for the construction of transmission line and sub-station from Dandakhet to Rahughat to link the power to be generated from Myagdi river and its tributaries with Central Transmission Line.

According to the Project, although compensation was provided in Rahughat project by acquisition 15 ropanis of land at Dandakhet, construction of the project was delayed due to the dispute in this regard. It is necessary to acquire 90 ropanis of land at Aaswang for the construction of sub-station.

Compensation Determination Committee under the coordination of Chief District Officer had determined to provide Rs 5,000 to each ropanis of the land along the road side while Rs 400,000 to each ropani of land, away from the roadside. Landowner Ashok Kumar Shahi said that they refused the compensation amount as it was very less as compared to the current market price.
