Remote Soru Village of Mugu connected to road access

Mugu –Soru Rural Municipality of Mugu district has been connected to road network. 
For the first time, a jeep travelled to the village from the district headquarters of Gamgadhi. 
Construction of 23 kms Gamgadhi-Gilah-Dhulachaur was started some five years ago with the financial and technical supports from the Rural Access Programme. 


However, the vehicles plied along 17 km road out of the total 23 km on Friday. 
With the road access, the rural municipality and municipality have been connected to each other. 
Chief of the rural municipality Log Bahadur Shahi said the local produces can be sold to the district headquarters while the construction materials could be supplied to the village after the road network. 


The road was constructed with the participation of the locals without use of equipments. A total of Rs 380 million was spent for the road construction and 1,500 workers from 70 different groups were deployed, according to chief of the programme, Mohan Ruwali. 


Ruwali said that this was the trial and the vehicles could ply on all 23 km in two months after dismantling the 500 metre long cliff near Kachhe village. 


Likewise, a local woman Jansar Khadka said that each person involved in the road construction made around 700,000 to 800,000 in cash. The village is the model area for the vegetable production.
