Private sector urged to invest in energy sector

Kathmandu, January 8 — Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, has urged the private sector to invest in the energy sector as there is guarantee of market for the produced power.

Launching a 'Document Management System' installed by the Electricity Regulatory Commission in order to make its performance technology-friendly here today, Minister Khadka requested all to invest in energy sector as there is no problem of market of the produced power.

He shared that the government has taken a target of producing 28,500 megawatt electricity within 2023, adding such technology would help to achieve such target. The government would gradually facilitate to end problems seen in power production, stated the Minister.

He mentioned that there is significant contribution of private sector for the development of energy sector as energy sector is the main basis of country's development.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry, Suresh Acharya, shared that the responsibility of the commission is crucial to fulfill the government's goal for energy development. He laid emphasis on the need of taking the online system in a systematic manner by resolving problems of cyber security.

Chairperson of Independent Power Producers' Association Nepal, Ganesh Karki, said 'Energy Development Roadmap-2081' was historic in country's hydropower development.

Likewise, Chairperson of the Commission, Ram Prasad Dhital, shared that online system was launched to make public service responsible and accountable as well as technology-friendly.

He clarified that the Commission was committed in the campaign of making all services of the Commission fully technology-friendly.
