Corruption charges filed against officer for attempting to bribe CIAA!
Kathmandu, January 9 — The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against Dhruba Prasad Sapkota, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kispang Rural Municipality in Nuwakot.
The case is related to alleged corruption during his tenure as the Chief Administrative Officer of Mellekh Rural Municipality in Achham.
The CIAA filed the case after a complaint related to the purchase of machinery items by the rural municipality led to a detailed investigation by the CIAA office in Kanchanpur.
Sapkota had tried to bribe an officer with one lakh rupees.
According to the charge sheet, when Sapkota arrived at the investigator's office with documents, a yellow envelope containing one lakh rupees was discovered in a green bag he was carrying. When questioned, Sapkota admitted that the money was brought voluntarily to resolve the case.
The CIAA team detained Sapkota and initiated an investigation.
The CIAA has requested a prison sentence, penalty, and fine, citing that Sapkota attempted to influence the investigation into irregularities in the procurement process by offering a bribe.
